Hunting Urns

A Dignified Place for a Hunter

Hunters have always had a special connection to one another that goes back to the earliest days of civilization. Hunting urns celebrate this noble sport and its many participants. Because of this, there is an abundance of hunting cremation urns to choose from, regardless of which game the departed liked to hunt.

Hunting cremation urns have their roots as far back as Iron Age Pomerania, (now Poland) between 200 and 150 A.D. No two of these early hunting urns were exactly identical, but there were some common themes. Almost every hunting urn from this period seemed to tell the story of the hunt, from beginning to end. The tops were also unique, in that they were fashioned in the shape of the hats worn for the sport throughout the period.

In more modern times, the variety of choices is likewise practically boundless. Today, if the departed enjoyed duck hunting, the "Regal Mallard Duck Cremation Urn," is a hunting cremation urn designed to fit his needs. This hunting urn is a beautifully crafted mallard duck with realistic looking colors. This will no doubt remind family members and loved ones of the departed's many well fought ducks, and the enjoyment of roasting them thereafter.

A more ornate hunting urn comes in bronze, featuring a proud looking hunter readying his rifle as his dog sniffs for tracks in the bushes. A wooden version of this hunting urn also features a bird flying in the air, only minutes from being dinner. This hunter knows how to find his game anywhere, and so too did the departed.

Angel hunting urns are another appealing option. They come in a stylized walnut box with a picture frame for an image of the departed with his rifle. There is also a sterling silver hunter angel on the front, who has a rifle in his hands as he escorts the departed up to heaven, assuring him that there will be many places to hunt in heaven too.

Ceramic hunting urns are among the most artistic, featuring a pack of elk against the backdrop of a snowy mountain and a beautiful blue sky. These elk, like so many that the departed chased, are just waiting to be hunted.

One of the quaintest hunting cremation urns comes as a log cabin, similar to the ones the departed used on long weekends in the woods as he hunted for deer. The memories had by loved ones of sharing those times with him, and the warmth of his company around a fire, or the many lessons that he taught them as they prepared their rifles, are sure to take some of the sadness away from his passing.

Just as detailed hunting urn features an oak box with moose antlers coming out of the top of it, and various other kinds of animals running along them. In life, these animals whetted the hunter's appetite. The departed's family will surely think of all of the pictures of him in the living room, as he proudly displayed a moose's head, with a mile wide smile reaching across his own. These hunting urns will capture those many hard fought battles, and will inspire loved ones to remember how the deceased grasped victory in each one.

For one who does not wish to entirely let go of the departed, there is the shotgun shell memorial keepsake urn, made out of an actual bullet. This hunting cremation urn can be worn around the neck of a loved one as she remembers how much fun the departed had as he hunted for his favorite game.

The classically minded hunter will be well honored by the Artemis hunting urn. Artemis was the Greek goddess of hunting, the forest, and the hills, featured aiming her bow and arrow at her prey. This hunting urn is especially meaningful if the departed hunter was a woman, showing that men are not the only ones who appreciate the thrill of the chase.

Some will also buy hunting urns for their pets as well. Most of these, such as the "Hunter's Companion Urn, “are for dogs. This would seem fair, since they have tended to be the most loyal four legged companions when it comes to hunting. There are however hunting urns for cats as well, featuring a cat stalking his prey.

Hunters, no matter what their specialty all share a passion for being outdoors and being a part of nature, and hunting urns are all designed to keep that spirit alive for generations (and even centuries to come). Every hunter who is serious about his sport can rest in peace, thanks to hunting cremation urns, knowing that their life’s most precious moments with Mother Nature will be remembered for eternity.
